Keychron Q1 Pro Review (2026) — Derek's Honest Take
Our Verdict
Derek's keyboard after testing six. The aluminum build and wireless capability in a compact layout is the combination that works for his setup.

Derek does not enjoy having tested six keyboards. He explains this as the result of not having a framework for evaluation before starting. He now has a framework. It consists of three questions: Does the typing sound match my environment? Does the layout fit my desk without removing something else? Does it connect wirelessly to avoid cable management? The Q1 Pro answered yes to all three. The previous five answered no to at least one.
The Aluminum Build
The Q1 Pro is CNC aluminum, which means it feels significantly more substantial than plastic keyboards at the same price point. It also means it weighs 1.5kg. Derek considers this appropriate. The keyboard does not shift when typing. Kyle's keyboard shifts. Derek has mentioned this on three occasions. Kyle remains uninterested in upgrading his keyboard.
The 75% Layout
The 75% layout removes the numpad and the navigation cluster in favor of a more compact footprint while retaining function row keys and arrow keys. Derek chose this over the full 65% because he uses F-keys regularly for shortcuts. The 75% format has lived on his desk for six months without Derek wishing it were smaller or larger. That is the relevant test for whether a keyboard layout fits a workflow.
Wireless Reality
The Q1 Pro connects via Bluetooth (up to three devices) or 2.4GHz wireless via included dongle. Derek uses Bluetooth for clean cable management. Latency is imperceptible for typing — the 2.4GHz mode is for users who notice Bluetooth latency during gaming. Battery life is approximately two weeks per charge at normal use. Derek charges it on weekends and does not think about it otherwise.
