Kyle Finally Got It Right. I Need a Moment.
Kyle bought the correct product without asking first. This has never happened before. There are feelings. See full review →
Kyle called on a Wednesday to tell me he had bought a monitor arm.
Not to ask which monitor arm. Not to describe a problem and receive a recommendation. To inform me that he had already bought one — the Ergotron LX — and to report that it had solved the neck problem he'd had since November.
I have been recommending the Ergotron LX to Kyle for approximately three years. He has called me about monitor problems four times in that period. Each time I recommended the Ergotron LX. Each time he thanked me and then did something else. He bought a mount for his wall (the monitor is not near a wall). He bought a cheaper arm that drifted. He adjusted his standing desk height as a workaround. He bought the gaming chair.
And then, in March 2026, he bought the Ergotron LX.
What Changed
Kyle said he had seen a YouTube video about monitor ergonomics that recommended the Ergotron LX. The video said things I have been saying to Kyle since 2023. He found the information more persuasive in video format from someone he didn't know personally.
I have processed this. I continue to process it. It is probably correct information regardless of format.
The Setup Report
Kyle's current setup: Ergotron LX arm, LG 27-inch monitor, IKEA Markus chair. This is not a perfect setup but it is a functional one. His video calls no longer show ceiling. His neck problem has resolved. He is, by his own account, more productive in the mornings than he was in January.
The research has been vindicated. The execution followed the research. The timeline was longer than necessary. Kyle is making progress. I am noting this without editorial comment beyond this paragraph.
