Derek's Current Setup: The Full Reveal

People have been asking for a full setup reveal. Here it is. Every product, with the honest assessment of what is working and what I'm still planning to address.

The Desk

FlexiSpot E5 standing desk, 60x30 inches, bamboo surface. This has been my primary desk since March 2023. The motor is quiet. The stability at standing height is acceptable — not Uplift quality, but not the wobble of budget alternatives. The memory presets work. The cable management channels are functional. I use the standing height for approximately 90 minutes per day.

The Chair

Herman Miller Aeron, size B. This is the correct chair. I know this because my back has had nothing to say about it since January. The Aeron is expensive. The expense is justified if you sit 6+ hours daily and have had persistent back issues. The research said this four years before I acted on it. The research was correct.

The Monitor

LG 27UN850 4K on Ergotron LX arm. Eye level. USB-C single cable from the laptop. Four years of arm use with zero adjustment required since initial positioning.

The Peripherals

Logitech MX Keys keyboard. Logitech MX Master 3 mouse. The combination has been in use since 2022. Nothing has broken. The multi-device switching is useful. The MX Master scroll wheel remains the best scroll wheel I've used. These are not glamorous assessments. They are correct ones.

What Is Still Temporary

The chair mat. Still pending. The children's drawings on the wall — these are intentional and will stay. The cable management behind the desk is 95% correct; there is one cable running slightly longer than optimal because the cable I ordered was 6 inches short and I haven't replaced it. This is eighteen months old. I have the correct cable in a drawer. These are the things that are still temporary.
